The Masked Writer is a famous person in history. They have left clues behind about who they are. Integrate language arts with social studies! 🙂
This is a 6-page assignment with an answer key. Works great for classwork!
General Procedures:
A.) The Set-Up – Print a packet for each student.
B.) The Job – Students will solve between 8 to 15 problems across four puzzles. In each case, students will solve a cipher by translating numbers or symbols into letters. When complete, the letters reveal a clue.
C.) The Clues – After students have a clue, they can rule out suspects who the Masked Writer may be.
D.) The Reveal – You may enjoy a web application where students will be able to “unmask” the Masked Writer to culminate the activity. Click here to visit!
