RESOURCES FOR BLACK HISTORY WE ALL SHOULD KNOW
Lesser known Black history events reveal powerful stories that are often missing from traditional history lessons. Exploring these events helps students develop a deeper understanding of the struggles, achievements, and contributions that shaped history.

Black History Events That Deserve More Attention
Fuse History: Burning of Black Wall Street
Students examine the destruction of a thriving Black community, focusing on economic success, racial violence, and why this event was deliberately erased from many historical narratives.
Fuse History: Original 33
This lesson highlights overlooked pioneers, helping students understand how contributions can be minimized or forgotten—and why historical recognition matters.
Fuse History: Drowned Towns
Students explore communities displaced by progress, examining who benefited, who paid the cost, and how stories can literally disappear beneath the surface.
Fuse History: Wilmington Coup
This resource confronts a violent overthrow of a democratically elected government, pushing students to grapple with power, media influence, and the fragility of democracy.
Fuse History: Redlining
Students investigate how housing policies and lending practices created long-term inequality, connecting past decisions to patterns that still shape communities today.
Together, these lessons encourage students to think critically about whose stories are told, whose are omitted, and how history is shaped by those decisions. Most of these resources are available for FREE.
Then of course, perhaps we have biographies too!,
